Se basa en una reducción en grosor y tamaño de la lamina, producida por traumatismos, enfermedades vasculares, radiaciones, puede ser congénita. La que se presenta en las uñas de los pies se manifiesta con una lámina ungueal desvitalizada, empobrecida con crecimiento muy lento.
